How do I activate Windows?

Activating the Windows license is necessary when a new computer is built. If you get messages about activating Windows, or that Windows is “Not an authentic copy” or you are a "victim of counterfeiting," etc. then you need to activate the Windows license on your computer. If you get a message to Activate Online, do it (the license code is already installed). Otherwise:

1. Click on the Start menu
2. RIGHT-click on “computer”
3. Choose “Properties” (bottom of list)
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and choose “Active Windows Now”
5. Choose Activate Online
